Here are just some of the great stories we have heard from our adoptive families.

We adopted our chocolate lab, Jack, in spring of 2010 from your organization. I just wanted to send an update on Jack and thank you for bringing him to our family. What impressed me most about your organization were your efforts to make sure you found the perfect dog for our family and situation. It’s clear that you want what is best for each dog and the people who welcome them into their lives. At the time we adopted Jack, our daughter was 6 months old and we weren’t in a place to train a puppy. I requested a gentle, easy going, house-trained lab and you brought us Jack – a perfect match! He is playful, obedient and so great with our daughter. He follows her everywhere and tolerates all that comes with being around a now active 2-year-old. It also helps that Jack likes to eat whatever snacks fall from her hands….she is so used to this that whenever she drops food she says, “Jackie, clean up!” Jack is a great snuggler, loves going for long walks with the family and playing fetch with his many tennis balls strewn all over our house. Thanks again for our pal, Jack.

Just wanted to send a note to you all about Murphy. He’s doing well. Murphy has been a great addition to our family. He loves long walks, running around the yard. If there is a twig out there he snatches it up and plays. We have two nephews that are over constantly and want to play with him. Murphy lets them hug and kiss him. When he’s done he just walks away. When he’s needing more water in his dish, he starts looking at you and whines and then barks at you. It’s like he wants to go outside, but he wants more water. He’s such a good dog. We were very lucky. Donna H. |

We just wanted to let you all know how Max is doing. Max was almost 5 months old when we adopted him from Great Lakes Lab Rescue. He was with a foster family for about a month, and they did a wonderful job training him. He is a wonderful new addition to our family, who likes to steal our socks and take the ornaments off of the Christmas tree. He enjoys long walks and playing fetch in the yard. He is great with our kids and loves to cuddle up next to us. We are glad to have him as a part of our family. Thanks Great Lakes! Maria B. |

We lost our beloved Hud, a 120 lb. chocolate lab on September 3, 2009. Our original plans were to wait, but we were contacted to see if we could foster Sammy. We not only fostered, but we adopted! It’s been three weeks now and we just love Sammy. He knows “come here”, “sit”, “no!, “stay”, and we are working on “down”. He walks well on a leash, and goes for at least two walks a day. He never attempts to steal food or get on the counters or get in the garbage. He was at the county dog park this morning and has a blast running with all the other dogs. My husband said the other day, “This may turn out to be the best dog we ever had!” Our former dog, Hud, had a lot of memories attached to our son, Augie, who passed away nearly four years ago when he was only 21. Our pleasant experience with Sammy has given us something positive to keep focused on. We’ve not only helped Sammy, but he has helped us! We know Augie and Hud are happy for Sammy & us! |
Thought I would send you a picture of Bailee wearing her tiara
sitting next to her "bedazzled" food/water bowls. She plays the princess part quite well....who would have known
after spending most of her life outside in a dog run! She has OFFICALLY become my dad's shadow and loves her visits with
him out to the hanger at the airport especially when her lab friend
Snoopy is out there to play with her. I think my folks plan on giving her her first airplane ride very soon! |

I was knocking ice sickles off of an upper roof today and the first one I touched with my 25 foot pole fell and hit me in the head, knocked me to my knees and put a gash in my head. While I was trying to gather my senses, Boomer went and got Betsy and led her back to my predicament. While lying on the couch later on trying to get my head to stop bleeding, you can see that Boomer was trying to comfort me. What a dog! We are so lucky to have found him. Thanks!
