We know that it is a difficult decision to make to surrender your lab. While we will certainly work with you in finding a new home for your Lab, we do encourage you to visit the following link: www.wonderpuppy.net/canwehelp. Additionally, BLESSED BONDS offers temporary assistance to persons who want to keep their animal companions but are having difficulties that interfere with their ability to meet their pets' daily needs: network.bestfriends.org/groups/blessedbonds/default.aspx After you have visited the above links, if you feel you have no other option available, we need information regarding your Lab to find a new forever home. Please complete the form below and note that all fields in yellow are required. If we feel your Lab meets our adoption criteria, we will make arrangements for a GLLR volunteer to evaluate your dog. During the evaluation, the GLLR volunteer will need to see the dog, any medical records (please obtain a copy of them from your vet), AKC papers (if applicable) and any other paperwork you feel is pertinent to your dog. Our Surrender Coordinator will later contact you regarding our decision and advise you of the expected date we could take the dog. When it is time, arrangements will be made to meet with a volunteer to surrender your dog. For safety reasons, your Lab must have a current rabies vaccination and rabies vaccination certificate at the time of surrender (which is available through your vet's office). You may also donate any of your dog's food, bedding, crate, bowls, collars, leashes, heartworm preventative, medication, etc. The volunteer will ask you to sign a surrender form, and will collect the surrender fee of $50. Signing the surrender form legally transfers ownership from you to GLLR. We will not release the name of the adoptive families to the surrendering families. We are very careful to screen our adopters and to match the right Lab with the right family. We provide after adoption counseling and will continue to visit the adoptive homes to insure the care and well being of our Labs. In the rare event an adoption doesn't work out, the adoptive family is required by contract to return the dog to our Rescue. We will make every effort to place your dog in an environment that will make him or her happy and will provide the dog with humane lifetime care. Be assured that once accepted into Rescue, the dog will stay in rescue until a proper adoptive home is found. After submitting the form, please wait 10 days to hear from a GLLR volunteer. If you have not heard from someone within 10 days, please contact us to let us know that there is a problem with your application submission. Remember, we are all volunteers, with no paid staff, so please be patient and wait the ten days. Thanks! |
